Transmission Process
Well, we presume that if you’re on our web page, then you are having transmission problems. Possibly, you are doing a little research as most wholesale or retail consumers do nowadays before replacing or repairing a transmission in their vehicle. We know, when it comes to a vehicle transmission, consumers are terrified of this device that they don’t really understand and which has so many internal parts.

Here at American Transmission our goal is to provide you with peace of mind during your car’s transmission repair process.
During your repair process we assign a dedicated service advisor to your vehicle. The service advisor will listen to the problems you are experiencing and determine the best course of action in getting your car or truck repaired. He will advise our Automobile Service Excellence (ASE) Master technicians on you vehicles problem; and together they will determine the most cost effective means to correct your transmission problem. Throughout your car or truck repairs, he will keep you informed on how your vehicles repair is progressing and when the repairs are complete.
Now, we will explain how our transmission repair process works. First, our technicians will perform a computer diagnosis of your vehicle. If we determine there is a transmission related problem, then a technician who is also certified by the Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association (ATRA) will perform a road test and diagnostic analysis of your vehicle. Our transmission technician will provide a written report to your service advisor of his findings and repair recommendations.

The service advisor will contact you; discuss our findings, and what is needed to repair your vehicle, “you don’t always need to replace the transmission”. If the transmission does have internal damage, then a technician will remove the transmission. Next, a ATRA certified transmission rebuilder will disassemble and prepare a written report of the defects found inside the transmission. Your service advisor will contact you with our findings and provide you with final pricing of your repair. With your approval, our transmission builder will rebuild your transmission combined with advanced procedures to factory specifications. Our transmission technicians will check all internal transmission hard parts for original standard specifications. After final assembly, we perform startup and stress testing on our computerized Transmission Dynamometer (Dyno). During the Dyno testing process we check all operating hydraulic fluid pressures in each transmission shift range to factory specifications. Once initial startup operation testing passes, we run your transmission through several stages of stress testing. During all phases of Dyno testing, readings are compared to our computerized database. If any reading is out of specification, the transmission is failed and a disassembly and inspection is performed.
Once your transmission passes Dyno testing, our technicians will reinstall your transmission into your vehicle. Your vehicle is then road tested by an ASE Certified Master technician who ensures you transmission is operating properly. We then perform computer diagnostics and analysis to check for any malfunctions after transmission installation and road testing. Finally, we perform a visual under vehicle inspection over our open pit. There our technicians check your vehicle’s transmission for fluid leaks and quality check the installation. After our rigorous post testing, your vehicle will be placed in our storage lot awaiting your pickup. At this point, your service advisor will contact you of the repair completion and arrange to have your vehicle cleaned and ready for you pickup.
